David Katz serves as Chief Operating Officer of MWM Live, the live theater division of MWM (formerly Madison Wells Media), a diversified entertainment and media company focused on premium content creation in film, television, immersive media and live theater. In his role, Katz oversees business operations of branded theatrical productions under the MWM Live banner, as well as manages new business initiatives. Under Katz, MWM Live launched its newest off-broadway show, RED ROSES, GREEN GOLD, an exciting musical featuring the legendary music and lyrics of Jerry Garcia and Robert Hunter.
Prior to joining MWM Live, Katz served as the Senior Vice President for Content Relations, Development and Production at the Nickelodeon Group, where he managed the most robust development slate in network history. In addition to his leadership role in developing Variety’s annual“10 Animators to Watch” list, the first-ever Artist in Residence program, he also spearheaded global shorts programs, artist & writing fellowships, theatrical workshops, Upfronts, and more. His strategic oversight was directly responsible for the recognition of the Get Schooled platform on 2017 Fast Company’s Most Innovative List for Gaming Category.
From 2005 to 2014, Katz operated as Senior Director of Global Corporate Responsibility & Board Communications at Viacom Inc, and was promoted to Senior Vice President Global Corporate Responsibility & Viacommunity Brand Solutions in 2008. During this time, he positioned Viacom as industry leader in Corporate Responsibility, leading the company’s philanthropic investments, community engagement, special projects, and served as primary liaison to the Board of Directors.
Previously, Katz has served as Chief of Staff for InterActiveCorp, Freelance Special Project Manager for the Duchess of York’s Office, Manager of Creative Development for Clear Channel Entertainment, On-Air Talent Manager for MTV Networks. He is also a proud member of the Ad Council Advisory Committee, The Actors Fund, The Get Schooled Foundation, Literacy, Inc., Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Commercial Theatre Institute, Sustainability 50, and World 50 Fellows.
Katz obtained his BA from New York University and Emmerson College and went on to obtain his graduate degree from Harvard Business School. He currently resides in Los Angeles.
